Twenty years ago, I lived in West Germany. I lived there for 4 years, even gave birth to one of my brats there. I have been to check point charlie. Went christmas shopping once in East Berlin. I left earlier in the year; before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Today twenty years later... remember. I like this video, pay attention around 1:50 and after. Sorry You will have to turn my music off to hear the video.

ReplyDeleteI remember watching this when it happened! Huge event!! Thanks for sharing! I like your nre look!
ReplyDeleteI remember that happening. I was in the 5th grade and living in USA I didn't understand it completely then. We were actually studying that in school at the time the wall came down. Thanks for the video I just showed it to my 9 year old and tried to explain it to her..
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm here to admit that I am old enough to remember this well. I was a newly wed, well, 3 years married, with no kids yet.

I visited Berlin the year after it fell and have a few small pieces of the wall.
ReplyDeleteIt was great to visit both sides. In my opinion there was beautiful architecture in the old East while the old West had the money to invest in new buidings.
So happy that it is united again.
Seemed impossible when it happened.
ReplyDeleteI decided to leave your music playing and it really added to the feeling of the documentary.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that it has been that long since the fall of the Berlin Wall. It seems like yesterday...very vivid memory!
ReplyDeleteWow Christine!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. I was in Germany but never really stationed there. In fact the USAF said I really was never there. In spite of this, I always had a wonderful time.
The only time I can talk about openly is the fact I was hospitalized in Frankfurt in the Kuwait war before heading back to the States.
Gosh, I thought I had commented here on this topic. I just came by to se if you posted.
ReplyDeleteI so was young when it happened, I admit I know very little to nothing about it, but watching the video brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't help but feel for them. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFollowing from MBC.
Funny, when I tried to follow it said I already was but it wasn't showing on my dashboard. I "think" I'm following. :)
ReplyDeleteNice post. I spent time in Germany when I was in between 7th and 8th grade. It was a student exchange program and I learned soooo much! We visited East Berlin before the wall fell also. Very interesting as a youngster!
